Hershey Bar Pie

Summer is almost officially here! With summer, comes a lot of cookouts or hangouts with friends, where you are left wondering what it is that you are going to bring for everyone to snack on! I have the perfect, chilled dessert for all of your summer get togethers. It is like a creamy s’more in a pie, it’s super easy and takes about 10 minutes to make!

What you will need to make the perfect Hershey bar pie:

  • 1 Ready Graham crust

  • 1 Large tub of cool whip (thawed)

  • 6 Hershey bars

  • 1 tsp. of vanilla

  • 2 TBSP of margarine

First things first: put your Hershey bars into a microwave safe bowl for melting, leave out 1/2 of one of the six bars if you want to have some decoration on top at the end. I cannot stress this enough DO NOT OVERHEAT YOUR CHOCOLATE. Put your 5 1/2 bars in the microwave and heat for 20 second intervals at 50% power level, stirring between each time. When you get to the point where you are almost fully melted, but still have some chunks that won’t melt and you think to yourself “this could probably go one more time”, throw in your 2 tbsp of margarine and heat that final time. If your chocolate is melty and could be drizzled over something - perfect. If it looks chalky…. it will not work!

Next, add in your fully thawed cool whip - if it is not fully thawed, it will work. But the filling will have some chocolate chunks in it where the frozen cool whip kind of hardens your melted chocolate back up. Now, I don’t mind coming across a chocolate chunk, but for ultimate creaminess, make sure it is fully thawed :)

Mix well with a hand mixer until your filling is thickened up and a very light brown color. Don’t forget to lick the beaters - the best part of making any good dessert! Once mixed, add in your vanilla and mix that in well.

After mixing it together, dump it into a pie crust and smooth it out! I told you - easy, right?

Finally, if you want a little bit of decoration, take that 1/2 bar you took out at the beginning and using a grater, grate it up so that you have chocolate shavings on top. I grated 5 of the 6 squares here and saved one to put in the middle.

This pie can be served immediately, but is about 1000% better when it is chilled. Once done, throw it in the fridge and forget about it until it is time to leave and take it with you! So yummy!
